As the multiplication unit draws to a close, we will begin studying division concepts. As division homework begins to come home, please be sure they are solving problems using the strategies taught in class. I will provide examples on the homework and students will soon be taking notes that detail the steps of the strategies.
In reading, students are completing their unit on Drama. Students will performing their Shakespeare plays this week. Ask your child to explain their part to you.
In writing/science, students are completing their constellation reports. Students will make a constellation box to display their assigned constellation. Students' constellation research will serve them well this week when they visit the Star Lab.
The Star Lab will be open to families this Thursday evening at Nate Mack's "Mack"ademic night. Science night will be from 6:00 - 7:30. Families are encouraged to attend and visit different classrooms for science themed activities. The science materials fair will be open in the library during the event.
February payments for Carson City are due - please pay Ms. Lynn at the front office. Payments are $50 per attending person. This payment should mark the third payment; there was a fifty dollar deposit in November, a fifty dollar payment in January, and now a February payment. Fifty dollar monthly payments will continue until April - then we will have a better understanding (after hotels, food, buses, tours, etc. are booked) on how much the final payments will be. We are estimating the final cost will be around $350. Cookie dough money will be subtracted from students' final payments.
Classes are collecting box tops throughout the month of February (or reams of paper to equal 50 box tops). Students are also encouraged to bring in a whiteboard (Expo) marker for themselves to use during math (we use whiteboards often in math and our classroom supply is running low). If each student has their own, the students won't have to share and the markers won't dry out as quickly. Thank you to those that have already donated supplies - they are very much appreciated!
