FUNDRAISING
West Coast fundraising items were sent home with students today - please check over and deliver the items to your customers as soon as possible. Cookie dough fundraising orders will be delivered to the school tomorrow afternoon; please make arrangements for your child to transport these items home after school. It is important that all orders go home tomorrow as many items needs to be refrigerated. NO SCHOOL There will be no school on Wednesday, December 10th due to parent-teacher conferences. Current progress reports will be sent home this week and can be discussed during meetings. CONCERT This Tuesday, Mr. Osborne, the father of one of our fourth graders and a well known piano player in the Las Vegas area, will be performing a concert for our 4th graders from 8:35 - 9:25. Mr. Osborne has played many times at the White House and can be found performing in all sorts of clips on YouTube. Please feel free to stop by and enjoy the show with us! TOY DRIVE The Nate Mack toy drive is in full swing - classes are collecting new toys and/or stocking stuffers for Nate Mack families in need. If you would like to donate, please send in donations with your student. Thank you! CLASSES A few updates about the core classes: In reading, students are learning how to read and comprehend poetry. Once this unit is complete, students will be making the transition from literature studies to informational text. Please ask your student about the poem they are working on in class. In writing class, students have started focusing on non-fiction; students are exploring different science concepts and learning how to construct informational writing pieces. Please ask your student what science concepts they have studied. In math, students have completed a unit on rounding, a smaller unit in our study of place value. We are now focusing on adding and subtracting large numbers using the standard algorithm. Please ask your student to show you how to add and subtract using the algorithm and explain any regrouping. Additional questions to ask: • How many times have you logged on to XtraMath this week? Students are required to log-on at least 3 times a week • What was the last AR test you took? What did you score? • Have you played any ST Math games recently? |
Please check the Nate Mack site for schoolwide information.
